Synopsys Honors CoWare With First Tenzing Norgay EDA Interoperability Achievement Award
Synopsys Presents Interoperability Award to CoWare at Eighth EDA Interoperability Developers' Forum
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 28, 2001--
At the eighth EDA Interoperability Developers' Forum in Sunnyvale,
Calif. on Oct. 16, 2001, Synopsys, Inc., honored CoWare, Inc. with the
initial Tenzing Norgay Interoperability Achievement Award.
CoWare, an EDA tools provider for system-level design, received
the award because of its significant contribution to the Open
SystemC(TM) Initiative, launched September, 1999. CoWare endorsed and
promoted the concept of SystemC and Open Source in EDA starting well
before the public launch. The company then executed and delivered
source code to the Open SystemC modeling platform and built products
around the standard, resulting in rapid and widespread adoption of
SystemC and unprecedented growth of an Open Source standard in the EDA
industry.
"The Tenzing Norgay award is presented to companies that exhibit
outstanding qualities in their contribution to EDA interoperability,"
said Rich Goldman, chair, EDA Consortium interoperability committee
and vice president, Strategic Market Development at Synopsys. "CoWare
has demonstrated similar qualities of the mountaineer who was the
first person to reach the summit of Mt. Everest with Sir Edmund
Hillary in 1953."
"We're honored to accept the first Tenzing Norgay Interoperability
Achievement Award," said Dundar Dumlugol, vice president of
engineering at CoWare. "As part of the Open SystemC Initiative, we've
enjoyed working with member companies in developing the SystemC
language and the reference simulator. I am very pleased with the
tremendous success SystemC has gained in the user community in such a
short period of time."
"I am happy to congratulate CoWare as the first winner of the
Tenzing Norgay Interoperability Achievement Award," said Pamela
Parrish, executive director, EDA Consortium. "I'm pleased to recognize
CoWare's significant contributions to tool interoperability, which
benefit all EDA customers. The success of Open SystemC demonstrates
that EDA companies can compete while ultimately serving our customer
base and growing our market."
